Fear/Love

Posted by Mark / October 28, 2009, 12:24 pm

Not content with being one of the freshest motion designers working today, our very own Rob Chiu (aka The Ronin) is about to drop his new live action short, Fear/Love. We here at Stink Digital have seen the full film, and it’s a pretty special piece of work. Fear/Love tells the tale of a series of East London teenagers as their paths intertwine in the leadup to a terrible event.

Rob’s just released three equally impressive teaser trailers, each told from the viewpoint of a different character. Click on each picture to see that respective teaser.

Congrats, Rob.

Adam McNichol, our newest team member!

Today is Adam’s first day here in Stinky Towers, which is great news for everyone — it means we’ve all got a bit more time to spend on the things we do best, and he can bring the wealth of experience he gained as Senior Producer at Preloaded (and before) across to our all-star team.

He joins us as an Interactive Producer; book a job and you’re bound to meet him.

The Hat of Shame

Posted by Jess / August 7, 2009, 5:28 pm

As Studio Manager here at Stink Digital, it’s my job to notice things like messy offices… and when you work with only guys, it can get pretty bad! I’ve been nagging for weeks now for people to clean up after themselves around the place… this isn’t due to me being a neat-freak, but more because of the family of mice that live in the building.

When I brought it up in the weekly meeting yesterday, Mark had the idea of introducing a “naming and shaming” scheme. The premise is simple: clean up after yourself, or you have to wear The Hat of Shame.

Said Hat is a funny looking colourful piece of apparel that someone apparently brought us back from China. It looks like the plastic thing that melons come in. The joys of getting to wear The Hat of Shame include hat hair, itchy ears, and strange looks from passers-by… one of the sub-rules is that if you are caught leaving dirty dishes lying around, and you have to wear The Hat of Shame, then you have to wear it everywhere. And we do mean everywhere. That includes cigarette and lunch breaks, and even meetings.

Despite the big sign that went up in the kitchen, and the email I sent around explaining the rules, not even an hour after this scheme was decided we had our first defaulter! Tim went off home for the day, leaving his used coffee mug on his desk. Naughty naughty! So today he had to attend a meeting here in the office (thankfully the agency guys had a sense of humour!) and go out for lunch at Spitalfields wearing The Hat of Shame! Although, much to Marcel, Mark and my surprise, he didn’t get that many odd looks in the street… I think it must suit you, Tim!

The mug is discovered... and what's that? A glass too!

To Sell! Sell!: Sorry! Sorry!

Posted by Mark / July 6, 2009, 3:41 pm

Stink Digital is located in East London’s lovely Printing House Yard, right above, as fate would have it, the advertising agency Sell! Sell!.

We’re so close, in fact, that my office window opens out above their skylight:

Despite all this, though, we’ve never actually met. So earlier today we got bored and decided to make our introduction by attempting to chuck a paper airplane made out of a business card into their premises.

Our aim, as it turns out, is almost as terrible as our photographic ability:

Five minutes after that photo was taken, a torrential downpour soaked one of the business cards and a gust of wind blew it over the window and into the office. Which means someone at Sell! Sell! has been presumably been confronted with what is effectively a spitball in the vague form of our business card.

So, to Sell! Sell!: We’re sorry. We are idiots, and we live above you.

Cannes 2009

When we found out that we’d won the Film Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes Advertisers Festival – and in our first year operating as a fully fledged digital production company – we were obviously over the moon.

Philips’ Carousel won a Silver Cyber Lion, a Gold Film Lion and the Film Grand Prix at the awards; we were so excited at the prospect of winning what is arguably the biggest award in adland that we all flew over to watch the show and join in the party. Here’s a few photos of our weekend….

Amautalab, sack porn pioneers

Posted by Mark / June 22, 2009, 9:56 am

Our crazy-talented (also: just plain crazy) friends at Amautalab have sent over some pictures that are too good not to share.

These are from ArteBA, reportedly Buenos Aire’s most important annual art fair. A selection of the works of Latin America’s most relevant and renowned contemporary artists were showcased, including Amautalab’s own “The Blindness of the Woods”.

If you haven’t seen the film, go here and have a look first. It’s basically a mashup of a fairy tale with The Muppets with a hardcore porn, so don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Anyway, for the show, Amautalab was invited by This Is Not A Gallery gallery to create an art installation and to exhibit the film. The installation consisted of the three main characters and some animals from the movie, all wrapped up in a big color explosion. Apparently the press response and the audience response have been great, which isn’t surprising; I don’t know how you see this and not respond.

PICS: [these get progessively more NSFW as you scroll down!]
