World Humanitarian Day aims to raise awareness and billions of dollars to help improve the lives of citizens across the globe.

Users can choose to sponsor a word by either tweeting their chosen word with the hashtag #theworldneedsmore, or to support the word by making a donation through PayPal. To accomplish this, we created a custom-built distributed twitter scraping system that accurately counts tweets that are sharing the words and attribute them to a donation made by that word's sponsor.

We designed a user experience that allows our audience to watch videos hosted by Kid President with the help of celebrities like Beyonce and testimonials from humanitarians that explain what World Humanitarian Day is and what it could accomplish with the campaign. The site was built with a global audience in mind to be localized in as many languages as possible and was kept mobile optimized.

Tweets from Beyonce, Ciara and others have already done wonders to help the cause. Get involved by sponsoring a word of your own.
